At the same time, however, the potential for public relations disasters in today's news environment is higher than ever before. This up-to-the-minute media coaching workshop will give you timely and adaptable strategies and skills to handle a variety of media situations. It is offered in English and Spanish.

Topics and features include:
  • Introduction to How the Media Works Print/Electronic, Local, National/International
  • Devising the Key Elements of a Public Relations Campaign
  • Determining Your Message vs. What the Media Wants to Hear or See
  • Preparing for the Interview
  • Camera & Interview Techniques
  • Developing Convincing Responses & Position Statements
  • Crisis Management Strategies
  • Creating a Media & Image Master Plan
  • Who can benefit:
  • Front-line executives
  • Community leaders
  • CEOs
  • Company spokespersons
  • Public officials
  • Anyone who deals with the media

What you receive:

You will be guided through a review of your existing public relations strategies and focus. Each participant will experience both on-camera studio-style interviewing and ?in-your-face? crisis management microphone practice. Additionally, mock interviews will be conducted in newspaper and magazine style.

Goals of the media coaching will be to help create a more credible and professional on-camera presence as well as develop a set of suitable responses to questions and ways of diffusing potentially harmful interactions with the media. Participants will be able to keep all video and audiotapes.

What to bring:

Participants are encouraged to bring appropriate media clips of themselves and/or company coverage both positive and discouraging for analysis and to use as a baseline for evaluation purposes. Additionally, it is strongly recommended that a small tape recorder and laptop computer be brought to the sessions for use during and after the training.
